NAME

gecos - return the GECOS (comment) entry for a user account

 

SYNOPSIS

edrc/lib/gecos [ -h ]

gecos username

 

AVAILABILITY

WA2L/edrc

 

DESCRIPTION

return the GECOS field (=comment) of a given user.

If the user does not exist on the system (or in an equivalent coming from some server somewhere) an empty string is returned.

 

OPTIONS

-h
print usage message.

username
name of an existing user on the system.

 

ENVIRONMENT

EXIT STATUS

0
no error.
